On Saturday morning I got up early with plans to run. My hamstrings were still super sore from Pilates and Kinesis and then hiking up to Gem Lake Friday so I decided power walking would be a better option. It was a chilly morning so the elk were out. In fact I got charged my a bull shortly into my workout! Yes I did a sprint away.
Lake Estes was gorgeous with the steam coming off the lake in the sunshine. I thoroughly enjoyed the 3.75 miles trail.

Nice Jog on the Rio Grande Trail
It was a chilly Sunday morning in Aspen. I headed out on the Rio Grande Trail with temperatures in the upper 30s. After my mega hike day, I just wanted an easy out and back to get in a couple of miles. So off I went on the trail, through the John Denver Sanctuary, and along the trail then back. Got in about 3-3.5 miles before heading off the Main Street Bakery to warm up with coffee and an oatmeal raisin scone post-workout treat.

Wash Park Wednesday
It was one of those days where I had every intention of getting in a run at Wash Park before my noon haircut and highlight appointment. But it was right at 11am when I got out of the station and I tried to bail on myself. But no I headed over to Wash Park and got it done. It was just a quick run in the heat (record high of 98 in Denver today) but checked it off my to do list.
Sometimes when you are crunched up against time constraints you have your best cardio workouts. I needed that run. Got the 2.6 miles done in about 22 minutes with a couple of minutes to stretch then off to my appointment on time. It wasn't as far as I wanted to go but it was 2.6 miles farther than when I started!

Running For Coffee!
One of my favorite times of the week is Sunday morning. It's even better when it's a beautiful morning and I'm up early. Today was the perfect run for coffee morning. When I worked the night news shift in San Antonio, I ran for coffee several times a week. It's that extra incentive to get up and get moving. So today I headed out on the Cherry Creek Bike Path for a nice 45 minute run. Even sprinted to my finish line....the Starbucks at REI at Confluence Park. Then it was time to relax and enjoy one of my other joys of a Sunday morning - reading the paper. Running for coffee is a great way to start a new week!
